Commitment

The HDSB is committed to ensuring that equitable, accessible and inclusive teaching and learning practices are implemented, as well as identifying and responding to barriers to student achievement and well-being.

Strategies

  • Decolonize the Curriculum:

    • focus on Indigenous realities and ways of knowing

    • employ critical consciousness and anti-oppressive practices

  • Implement Inclusive Design framework

  • Implement Culturally Responsive &

  • Relevant Pedagogy

  • Review, remove, replace resources

The HDSB is committed to identifying and removing systemic barriers to ensure all students achieve their maximum potential and choice in pathways.

Strategies

  • Analyze and respond to student pathway enrolment pattern.

Priority: 1.3 Address suspension
and expulsion data

Commitment

The HDSB is committed to critically examining discipline policies and practices to identify and address systemic disparities.

Strategies

  • Ongoing review and revisions of Safe Schools policies, protocols and practices

Priority: 1.4 Increase parent/guardian and community engagement in equity and inclusive education

Commitment

The HDSB is committed to establishing and maintaining relationships that ensure:

  • representation of diverse communities on Board and school level committees (e.g., Indigenous Education Advisory Committee, Parent Involvement Committee, School Councils)

  • partnerships and business relationships are reflective of the commitments within The Way Forward

Strategies

  • Ensure community representation and participation that reflect the many dimensions of Halton and beyond

  • Conduct and respond to a review of the policy and practices of HDSB Partnerships

  • Conduct a review and revision of vendor selection and identification processes and practices
